Well, this is my last post for February, and I have to move on from writing about love after I finish this one. However, I may just have to make LOVE my topic every February. Why not?
I starting thinking about all the things I love, and so that’s what this is about today. I’m not including the people I love. That would take up an entire year of posts if I started in on that list.
Mornings when I look out my bedroom window
Spring when all the daffodils I planted reward me with their sunny faces
Days on the beach with kids and dogs and sandy feet
Farmer’s Markets with fresh vegetables
Cloudy skies, especially when those clouds look like dragons or alligators (inside joke)
Egrets. I admire their patience.
Different countries with different languages and cultures to explore.
Books! Of course. I love those. Yours, mine, theirs. (I’m reading one of J.H. Moncrieff’s ghostly tales now and loving it! Notice, however, the terrified eyes.)
I’ll stop. But I have more. I guess posting about love for the month of February would be very easy because I’m so lucky to have a lot to write about.
How about a matching quiz this week? Can you match these literary lovers?
A. Molly | E. Mr. Darcy |
B. Elizabeth | F. Rauol |
C. Beatrice | G. Fibber McGee |
D. Christine | H. Benedict |
And how did you do on last weeks quiz?
Answers to last weeks quiz:
1. Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love whose Daddy was Cronus.
FALSE: Uranus was Dad, and no wisecracks.Β
2. If you speak Greek, you call the god of love Cupid.
FALSE: If you spoke Greek, you’d call him Eros. Romans turned him into Cupid.
Quote of the Week: “The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.” β Helen Keller
HR Sinclair says
That’s a great view in the morning. All the pics are lovely. The cloud one looks like a dragon ate an alligator (by the shadow in its tummy). LOL
C. Lee McKenzie says
You have seen something I didn’t! I’m posting that on fb later. Thanks for the keen eyes. Oh, and welcome back from your well-deserved break.
Jess@Fairday's Blog says
What a lovely post. I love looking out at my backyard while I drink coffee every morning. One of m very simple pleasures. And bird watching! I adore the beach- but don’t get there as often as I would like. Thanks for reminding us to take a minute to appreciate the little things. π
C. Lee McKenzie says
You sound as if you have a perfect spot for your morning coffee. And, yes, I think we need to be so appreciative of the world we live in. How fortunate we are.
Christine Rains says
That’s a lot of wonderful things to love. π Now if that is me on the quiz list, I would like to be paired with Benedict. Benedict Cumberbatch, that is! Hehehe. (I know it’s Christine and Rauol from Phantom!) Have a great weekend.
C. Lee McKenzie says
You gave it away! π You know your lovers, Christine.
Mike@Bitaboutbritain says
I enjoyed that. Why can’t I see these cloud-shapes until someone (more observant and imaginative) points these things out? Why should guys be into kayaking or polar bears? That’s like suggesting they’re into cars and sport. Surely, we’re more shallow than that? I know, I know – don’t call you Shirley…
C. Lee McKenzie says
You just have to write a book with the title Alligators Overhead or Sign of the Green Dragon, and then all you do is scan the sky for clouds that you can kind of see in the shape of alligators or dragons. Then you immediately yell, “Stop the car” or “Hand me my phone!” and snap a picture. Your family adjusts after a time, but barely.
And you can call me Shirley, but I won’t answer. π
Michelle Wallace says
Those clouds look like alligators? So they’ve discovered a new hiding place? I suppose they’re still ‘overhead’ just not in the previous knotty pine location… *wink…wink*
Happy March, Lee! π
C. Lee McKenzie says
You know all my secrets! Happy March to you, too.
Shannon Lawrence says
That’s a lovely list. I only know two of the lovers, and I haven’t even read the book. I’m woefully behind on love stories, methinks.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Knowing two is good, and being behind on reading love stories is understandable. I can only do one a year. π
Beverly McClure says
There is a lot to love about February. Your pictures are great. I love the flowers too. Been watching for the wild ones to sprout. Soon. And the sky and clouds, birds returning. So much happens this time of year. Looking forward to March as well.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I have to say that spring is my most hopeful and best time of the year. You’re so right about it being a time when so much happens.
Loni Townsend says
Great photos! Especially the terrified eyes. Hehehe.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Oh yes. I’m such a sissy.
Heather R. Holden says
Great list! Love the photos for all of them. (That daffodil is so pretty!) Glad you have so many wonderful things to brighten up your days!
C. Lee McKenzie says
Thanks, Heather. We need these things to make some of the ugly things go away!
J.H. Moncrieff says
Ah, I love that I made your list. Thanks so much. Your review made my day.
I’d love to share that photo on my page, with your permission. It’s awesome.
As for me, I love making blogging friends like you. It’s the best.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Of course you may share the picture. For the next one of your books I’m sticking my finger in the light socket, so my hair stands up the way it does while I’m reading. π
Sage says
THere’s a lot to love on this world… Last week, I was 100% but this week, I’d have to guess on 3 out of 4 so I’ll pass…
C. Lee McKenzie says
I think the guys aren’t getting the romantic couples. I’ll have to find a quiz that involves kayaking or polar bears for next time.
Annalisa Crawford says
There are so many wonderful things in the world to appreciate – yours is a fantastic list. I saw my first daffodil of the season recently, but we’re in for an icy snap which will probably decimate them π
C. Lee McKenzie says
For all their delicate looks, they’re pretty hardy. I’ve seen ours hold up under hail, so maybe yours will survive. Hope so.
Karen Lange says
Love the pics! What’s not to love? My favorite is the little one on the beach. Reminds me of my 20 month old grandson. Thanks for brightening my day. π
C. Lee McKenzie says
That’s a picture of mine. A minute later the Pacific swept him off his feet and got me, too. That was his first time to see the ocean. Welcome to the world, little guy.
Natalie Aguirre says
Loved your list. Reminds us to appreciate the simple, beautiful joys around us.
C. Lee McKenzie says
We both know how important that is!
Liz A. says
Sounds like you’ve got a plan for Februarys on out π
C. Lee McKenzie says
Yes, and I rather like it. Now, I have to remember that plan 12 months from now.
Jemi Fraser says
We love many of the same things! I’d have to add the beauty of our snow-filled landscapes even though I’m trying to hurry spring along! With several feet of snow on the ground, this could take a while! π
C. Lee McKenzie says
Snow always makes things so beautiful on a landscape. We don’t get to enjoy it much here unless we drive to Tahoe.
Hilary says
Hi Lee – wonderful views and thoughts expressed here … yes let February be the month of love. Fun thoughts too … the scent of the woods with damp earth, garden bonfire smoke, barbeque, food!, scent of natural flowers … and they are starting to come out – lots to remember … cheers Hilary
C. Lee McKenzie says
All of that is worth love. Maybe we should do a February “What I love fest.” Then we could fill the blogOsphere with some positive images and thoughts.
Hilary says
Sounds good … and it what’s we need – all this negativity is too much … live in the moment, ignore the news and just enjoy what’s around us … enjoy today!
Kelly says
Thanks for listing your things to love. Awesome list.
C. Lee McKenzie says
A short list with a million things left out! More next February.
Pat Hatt says
Watching kids and dogs play in the giant litterbox can be fun indeed. Learning about new places is always eye opening too.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Kids with animals is huge fun. I think that’s half of why Facebook’s so popular.
Sandra Cox says
What an enjoyable post. Your view out the bedroom window is perfect and the cloud does look like a dragon!
C. Lee McKenzie says
Yay! Thank you, Sandra. My husband said I had a highly overactive imagination. I’m showing him your comment.
L. Diane Wolfe says
I love raiding farmer’s markets. They have the best produce.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Next to my own garden, that’s my go to source.
Tamara Narayan says
What a wonderful batch of things to love–that view out of your bedroom is wonderful. So many trees! Reminds me of my parents house that way.
C. Lee McKenzie says
There can never be enough trees in my estimation. Glad my picture brought back some good memories.
Donna K. Weaver says
Lovely post! Sometimes we need this reminder of all the good things in our lives.
C. Lee McKenzie says
You’re so right. It kind of recharges us, doesn’t it?
Jacqui Murray says
Gotta add dogs to the list, don’t you think? Just love my little guy (who’s actually 70 pounds!)
C. Lee McKenzie says
A few years ago I would have added pets, but since my last wonderful dog and cat left, I’ve been trying to get along without new ones. I’ve been known to borrow other people’s just for the “pet fix” I miss.
Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor says
Those are all wonderful things – I can see why you love them. I do miss having a proper Spring and seeing daffodils, tulips and the like growing.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I think the routine of their appearance as well as their beauty is what I appreciate, too.
Thomas Anderson says
Hi, Cheryl-Lee!
Thanks for listing some of the things you love. You and I match on most of the items. I especially enjoy looking through a window and seeing a natural setting devoid of man made structures. I love to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at a farmer’s market. The aroma puts me in a good mood the moment I enter. I can appreciate a sunny day, a cloudy day or even a rainy day. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of times when I got caught in a cloudburst and soaked to the skin. I will always remember a particular day on vacation at the seashore. Instead of sunshine I encountered torrential rain that lasted the entire day. It turned into one of my happiest memories. With nothing else to do I sat outside for hours, inhaling the wind blown sea mist, watching birds feeding and waves breaking. It was calming…trance inducing, a wonderful experience!
The radio comedy series Fibber McGee and Molly was popular when I was born and continued on the air until I was age nine.
Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cheryl-Lee!
C. Lee McKenzie says
We do agree on the joy of being outside or even just looking at it. I love to go to the city and I last about one day and one night, and then it’s Nelly to the Barn for me. I need to see trees that don’t poke up out of circles in the pavement.
I was hoping to stump people on Molly and Fibber. Not you! You’re ahead of the game on this quiz. Here’s to another wonderful week. Goodbye February. Hello March.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
You have a nice view out your window.
Think I scored on last week’s quiz but not even going to attempt this week’s.
C. Lee McKenzie says
We moved here because of that view. I never forget to appreciate it! A for last week’s quiz, it is.
