I’ll be making a TV appearance on Bay Sunday Channel 5 in San Francisco area, May 22. They do archive their interviews on YouTube, so I can study my mistakes afterward. Oh dear. Send any and all tip you have for what to do or not do when facing a camera.
Here are more miscellany this Monday. I wish I could send the aroma that goes with them. The weather gods have looked down on the roses in my garden this year and said, “Let there be lots!”
The next important item is I actually met my ROW80 goal last week and managed to set a new one for this week. I think I may have gotten carried away, however. What was I thinking? 2000 words, blogs, life?
I think a new word counts as miscellany, don’t you? Here’s one I found and did not know. Can you guess what rhabdophobia* means? (If you give up, look below.) Now I’m wondering how can I work this into a conversation or write it into a novel? That’s where I found it!
Birthdays this month include my son, my sister, my nephew and three friends. May is a happening month! Anyone here having a birthday? I’m full of best wishes, so tell me and I’ll sing for you. No wait, click here and enjoy a special BIRTHDAY treat.
Oh, and last, but not least Tabitha Olsen sent me this: Now I have to find some Stylish Bloggers to forward the award to. Give me a few days and I’ll be passing this lovely award on along with 7 things about myself.
*rhabdophobia=fear of magic
I can’t imagine being afraid of magic. It’s all around us, ready to be appreciated. Like those roses, for example.

Those roses are beautiful. As you already know from my blog, May is my daughters birthday. Well it is also my son's, my grandmothers, my fav cousin…Yes, a busy month. But I love it!!! 🙂
Oh and I had no idea what that word was. But I love magic – well, not doing it myself. But I use it in my stories.

Congratulations on meeting your goal last week, and good luck on this week's! I hope your interview goes well.
Susan Kaye Quinn says
Those roses are gorgeous! And best of luck on your interview. Be yourself and don't fidget. That's all I've got. 🙂

Congrats on the upcoming interview. How exciting. Let's see, my advice, first and foremost is to do the deep, slow breathing. It has been scientifically proven to calm the body down. Also, don't wear a sleeveless top or shiny jewelry (learned those tips years ago at a writers day).
I was interview, along with my two co-authors, on a local TV station In San Bernardino, CA. It sure helped to do it as a group, especially since I get tongue tied in those situations. It's also helpful if the interviewer has your website and as much info as possible so they are knowledgeable about what to ask you.
As far as magic, I believe there's magic in ordinary life if stop to look. My grandfather was a magician, so my childhood truly was magical, but it's the everyday kid stuff that made childhood so special.
May birthdays – Today is my nephew's BD and my niece's (other side of the family) Also this month, my middle daughter, another niece and a great-niece. And today I received comments for my very first blog post, and it's pretty thrilling and kind of magical in a starry-night way, if that makes sense!

I think magic gets a bad rap. Can't understand that. Magic offers up all kinds of possibilities for things wonderful.
Happy Anniversay, Lisa Gail!
Lisa Gail Green says
It just makes me sad to think someone might be afraid of magic. 🙁 Good luck on your interview!! I'll have to check out Youtube. May 22 is a good day. It's my anniversary.
Komal says
Blech, it's autumn in Sydney so I envy your roses. Congratulations on reaching your goals!
As for television advice, try not to appear nervous. These things always translate on screen so smile and be confident! Don't forget to Youtube us the link afterwards!

Those roses are delightful! You are surrounded with beauty and what a great place for a writer to get in touch with those creative spirits. May and birthdays … can't help you there … sorry … but congrats on the Stylish Blogger Award! Well deserved, Lee. –Daisy

TV tips – don't wear white, skinny stripes, or plaid. They "strobe" or vibrate on camera. I need the word rhabdophobia to explain the parents in my class who deprive their kids of Harry Potter because the characters perform magic. Thanks for stopping my my blog. I enjoy yours.
Darby Karchut says
I CAN smell your roses – delightful! And you are so brave to go before the camera. Can't wait to see you!
Margo Berendsen says
Fear of dark magic, maybe, but I know what you mean – there is a real magic that shows up in life sometimes, like in an exuberant crop of flowers, and unexpected laugh…

I am totally in love with spring. Very hard to stay inside and write.
Catherine Stine says
Yes, I'm loving the spring flowers! Lots of tulips and cherry trees with pink blossoms in the NYC gardens. And my weekend trip to Philly was brightened by seeing tons of blazing azaleas–there is nothing as eye-catching as a Philadelphia azalea!
Happy Spring, all.
Tabitha says
Gorgeous roses! I am green with envy. 🙂 The magnolias just finished, but there's very little blooming here yet. It's been too cold. Though this week it's supposed to warm up to 70's and 80's. Woohoo!! Of course, Mother Nature will probably take it away again…*grumble grumble* 🙂
Dana says
Great post! Love the new word.
Kelly says
Beautiful roses!
And good luck on your goal! I'll be back to a solid writing routine this week.
May you enjoy all the May birthdays!

Magic is nothing to be feared. Good luck with your 2000 words. You can do it.
Marcia says
Mmmmmmm! I'm breathing them in.
