One thing you can’t accuse me of is repeating places I visit. Amsterdam last month, northern California the next. I know. I know. As someone said, “The only reasons for ending up in the northeast corner of California is you got lost or your car broke down.”
Well, that’s just not our case. We love the area and the openness of the place. Here’s a little bit of what it’s like. I wish I could have taken pictures of the stars. I stayed outside at night as long as I could and tried to soak in the universe they’re part of.
Major highway at peak traffic.
(The sound was the wind and nothing else until I clicked my camera.)
A Lumber Mill Sawdust Burner.
(This was important before pressboard was invented.)
Goose Lake Tourist Season
(My own kind of Moor. There’s mist in the mornings and boggy ground and sky.)
The Social Center
(I want to put characters here and hear them talk.)
Stuff
(I want to use this in a story.)
First Christian Church
(If I ever write a book that has a quaint church, this will be the picture I use to describe it.)
We all have our favorite places to get away. You’ve just seen one of mine. Where’s yours? Where do you recharge?

I just wanted to add a comment here to mention thanks for you very nice ideas. Blogs are troublesome to run and time consuming thus I appreciate when I see well written material. Your time isn’t going to waste with your posts. Thanks so much and stick with it No doubt you will definitely reach your goals! have a great day!

Wonderful photos! Love. No. Traffic! Hmmm. Places to recharge? Anywhere quiet!

Love that rush-hour picture. My place to recharge would be by the ocean in the islands.

I absolutely LOVE that church! My oh my. My family leaves tomorrow for a camping & water skiing trip. We'll be in central CA, which should be fun. But we also love places like Yosemite or the Grand Canyon. Love the wild beauty there.

Your photos really are great story settings. I especially like the grange. Quite the contrast from Amsterdam!

I live in Southern California but have never been to the northern part–I'd love to go. Any road trip recharges me, it doesn't matter where I'm going.

You got some great photos to refer to for your writing. Nice! I love Hawaii, jumping waves in Waikiki. Just can't afford to go anywhere right now. Good thing I like being home!

Looks enchanted. Really peaceful. A bit of prairie soul there, I suspect. Thanks for the lovely pictures, really enjoyed them, Lee!

Gorgeous photos. I like quiet places too. The mountains of New Mexico, for one. I also love staying home and sitting by our pond, watching the fish and frogs, the birds and dragonflies, and the fluffy white clouds in the sky.

Nice pictures C.M. – it looked quiet. I could use a quiet vacation. I'd love to go to Singapore – not because of quietness of course. I've been before – a long time ago and it was beautiful. But I was too young (and a couple other reasons) to really enjoy it. Can't wait to go back!

Wow, the blue skies don't even look real. Gorgeous! I wish I had a place I could get away. My parent go to Aruba for 2-3 weeks a year. I wish I did.
