Hats off to Writers4Writers featured author today,

How do you make a choice when anything you decide dooms your fate? Marked: A Two Halves Novella is a paranormal romance prequel to the Two Halves Series.

Movies

I don’t usually include movies in my posts, but this is Monday Miscellany and it’s summer and I’ve seen a few movies I feel like commenting on.

***** The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel gets my high five. I loved the story and I always love Judi Dench, Bill Nighy and Maggie Smith. I laughed. I teared up. I left wanting more. That to me is a good movie.

** Lincoln not so much. And I adore Daniel Day Lewis. His performance was, of course, excellent, but the movie dragged and dragged. I got a refresher course on the passing of the 13th Amendment, so that helped keep my interest. I was really disappointed in Tommy Lee Jones and he’s another favorite of mine.

My Favorite Quote for the Day

“It is easier to run a revolution than a government.” You’ll never guess who said this. Ferdinand Marcos. Guess he’d know. As I recall he was always declaring martial law.
Hope you’ll download Marta’s book today. Chime in on my movie comments. Disagree? Agree? Any favorite quotes to share?

Congrats to Marta! Sounds like an interesting book. I haven't seen the first movie- but I saw Lincoln. It was good, but could have been a bit shorter. 🙂

I haven't seen either of those movies, but I like your comments. The Lincoln trailer never caught my interest, but the Marigold Hotel one did.

Rejoice! Yes, I'm here at almost two in the morning. Bonus points or a cookie is in order.

Yay to Marta and yay to you, Lee. I'm starstruck knowing such folks as you and now, Marta. Because I'm so lovable, I shall tweet this and yep, even post this on 'Farcebook'!

My favourite movies, yes, that's the proper spelling of "favourite", are "Bambi Meets Godzilla!" and "The Adventures of a Blog Hopper".

That's an interesting question in the book's blurb.

I had to delete several movies that dragged from my DVR. Just like with a book, I want to get to the meat of the story.

MARIGOLD was my fave film last year along with SALMONG FISHING IN THE YEMEN with Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt.
MARIGOLD is, by the way, getting a sequel, since it was an unexpected international blockbuster 🙂

Gosh, my 'movie-watching' is seriously lacking these days. 🙁 I like Judi Dench and Maggie Smith so I'll definitely keep an eye on this one. 🙂

Oooh nice! heading over to twitter right now ! 🙂

I guess this is where I admit I'm terribly selective in my movie watching, and we banned TV. We're a household of readers. *shrugs* (And occasionally follow a TV series from online.)

Already done some W4WS tweeting, and snagged a book to boot! 🙂

I haven't seen Lincoln yet. Which is weird for me, because I'm a big movie watcher. (I saw almost every Oscar favorite EXCEPT for Lincoln, in fact.)

I've heard exactly what you said: it drags. However, I think I really lost interest when I read they'd changed so many historical facts for the sake of dramatization. As a devout history nerd, that doesn't sit well with me, even when I know Hollywood will take allowances. I just think there are some events and historical figures that do not need to be embellished.

I did see Superman over the weekend, and it was awesome! Definitely doesn't drag. lol
