Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2016 By C. Lee McKenzie 36 Comments

While I’m blanching and steaming and roasting and toasting, here’s my wish to all my friends who are celebrating Christmas 2016.

While I’m setting our table, calling the kids to bring those crackers I forgot to buy, deciding between cookies and pies for dessert, here’s a song for all my friends who are celebrating Hanukah 2016.

I used to love little goldfish crackers. Were they Pepperidge farm? I also remember Wheat Thins and Triscuits. Yes, half the time I walk into a room I can't remember why I'm there, but I remember everything my mom served over the holidays when I was 11. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas! And I vote for pie!

Those early memories just stick in our heads, don't they? So much of who we are is about memories of lovely treats like goldfish our mom had on little plates. And pie it is! Thanks for the deciding vote.

Wonderful holiday songs. That may be the best Hannukah song I've heard.

I've already managed to toast one finger. I always manage to wound myself during dinner prep! Happy Holidays.
