AtoZ Blogging Challenge–Spotlight on U

April 24, 2013 By C. Lee McKenzie 34 Comments

The brainchild of Arlee Bird, at Tossing it Out

We’re coming into the home stretch on the A-Z Blogging Challenge. U is the 21st letter in our alphabet, so we only 5 more posts before we can fall across the finish line and pat ourselves on the back.
I had a hard time picking a word for today, but I finally decided on one that I’d never heard before. And here I pride myself on knowing a lot of words.
*Take Smug Expression from Linguistic Face.*

Have you ever heard of uranoscopy? Maybe some astronomers or star gazers have this in their vocabulary, but not me. However, if you’ve ever done any star-watching, you’ve participated in uranoscopy.

I’ve got to see what others of you have posted on your U Word Day. Anyone use uranoscopy?

Great word, especially when I thought it would be universe! I'm adding uranoscopy to my list of new words because, well, because it's a new word to me:)

I've done a lot of that without knowing there was another word for it. Will be starting up another season of it here in a few weeks. According to my crit partners, I love the word undulations a lot. It is a great word. Isn't it?

LOL! I think I'll leave that word alone. It sounds like it'd be in the same vicinity as a colonoscopy.

New word for me, too! If you hadn't provided the definition, I would have thought it was some sort of medical procedure – LOL.

One thing about the AtoZ it stretches your knowledge base. You have to go out and find words or facts you'd never thought existed.
