Perspicacious/Perspicacity

How can perspicacious or perspicacity not make it to the top of your favorite words to use? With those plosive sounds and that staccato beat, these words pop out of your mouth. They even perk up a written sentence when you’re reading and all those words on the page are filled with the humming, nasal sounds of M’s and N’s and breathy vowels. Then suddenly here come the pop, pop, poppity P’s of perspicacious/perspicacity to wake you up.

Hi Lee .. certainly a couple of tongue twisters .. perspicacious .. love it and the owl – he looks so surprised too ..
Cheers Hilary
Another word I love the sound of. Not one I use often, though.
Great word. It takes me awhile to say it, though.
I'm too pooped to ponder this perplexity period!
Julie
It's positively preposterous that I've never heard of this word before ๐
I hope no one walks in and hears me trying to sound these words out! LOL
New words to me. Not sure I can even pronounce them. Thanks for increasing my vocabulary. ๐
That owl is a fitting picture for those words. ๐
Such fun "P" words. Penny positively piles plaudits pointed precisely perchance. Must go now, my keyboard is dangling on the precipice…
That word definitely pops!
LOVE the LOOK on the owl…. He's having a hard time pronouncing it to. BUT after reading a few of the conments I can say it without spitting… YAY ME! LOL…
NOW our poor owl friend is still having a rough go…
Something I could easily learn to spell, but say aloud, doubtful!
Now you see, I have exactly the opposite problem.
Great word! I've never heard it before, but I've been repeating it over and over so I can use it in conversation! ๐ So that I seem perspicacious myself.
You'll wow 'em, Kelly!
What? I can't say those words. I did try so much so that my lips are tired and refuse to say anything that begins with a P.
Thanks a lot.
Oh dear. Apologies for those tired lips.
Now you've done it! I have to go look them up to find out what they mean!
Don't trust me, heh?
Definitely can't pronounce!
Nas
I should have a prize for people who can pronounce these without spitting on anyone. ๐
I don't think I could pronounce those without tripping on my tongue.
I'll try for something simpler next time–something without so many spitty syllables.
I'd use the word more often if I could say it without stuttering over it!
LOL
I find something familiar in that owl. I think that's the same expression I have when someone tells me something I don't like.
Right. Kind of a round-eyed and stunned look. I know that one.
I second Pk Hrezo's thoughts…great word, and it should be used more often!
Send me notes with perspicacity in them.
Perspicacious is an excellent word and I dont use it enough. Must rectify that.
I'll be looking for it in your novels. No. Just kidding.
We've come up with some really fun words over the years, haven't we?
Indeed we have. We should have an enormous vocabulary by now.
1. Most terrifying photo ever…owls creep me out a tiny bit.
2. I'm definitely going to use that word in my final essay. I'm bound to get bonus points ๐
Here's to those bonus points!
well that word positively pops!

Cute! I love onomatopoetic words.
I refuse to use any word that my tongue trips over and/or spits while pronouncing. ๐
I'm pulling no punches!
I'm pleased with your P word which pops and pierces… positively filled with pep!
My P word on offer – plenipotentiary (it smacks of importance/quite a mouthful too)
Writer In Transit
@ Stephen I need coffee but my coffee pot broke.
But I think if you use this word in a YA ms you will get a 2 star review…just my guess though.
So the challenge is to show perspicacity without using perspicacity. Right?
This is preposterous because I have yet to finish my first cup of coffee!
But you came up with another remarkable P word without the caffeine. Congrats on that.
perspiwhat? ๐ I can't pronounce it… but I'm not a native English speaker, so don't throw me to the dungeons ๐
Of course not. No dungeons for you.
LOL! I admit I had to stare at both words to figure out how to pronounce them, even said them out loud. If nothing else, you can cause that wide-eyed owl look in the face of others. If they're anything like me, they'll stare and smile for a moment trying to decide if the word was an insult or a compliment lol!!
I love your comment, Angela! You're one perspicacious lady.
They'll make you sound intelligent!
That's what I'd hoped. I think I'll use it conversation today and see how people respond.
