The brainchild of Arlee Bird, at Tossing it Out

Idolize
Ever idolize (idolise, if you’re a Brit) anyone? Ever admire someone so much that you crave to be like them?
How about now? Anyone you look up to as a hero?
I kind of thought she was cool, but I grew out of that phase. My husband didn’t!
Of course, being idolized might be a pain.
Idolizing might be not a good idea. (I think I just wrote a rotten sentence)
Some people have Billy as an idol.
Have you seen this LIST? Staggering.

I think idolize is a strong word, it's similar to worshipping somebody.
I admire lots of people, for different reasons…
Happy I-Day!

Medeia Sharif says
I love the cat picture. Wonder Woman takes me back in time. I idolized her, Bionic Woman, and I'm sure others I can't recall.
Lynda R Young says
When I was young I idolised Richard Hatch who played Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica show, lol. He was so gorgeous.
Karen Jones Gowen says
She really was beautiful, wasn't she? I saw her on something recently and she is still pretty but filled out like most of us women get at middle age, which made me happy lol.
lostinsidethecovers says
I used to LOVE wonderwoman, I think I even had some underoos at one time. Whatever happened to those?! ๐
Sandy Campbell says
You know, I admire people and their talents, what they do and share with us in a form of entertainment. Be it a singer, dancer, actor, etc…I have never in my life worshiped anyone. Nor have I ever wished I was them, and I am never envious of what others have. They are just people like you and I with extraordinary accomplishments, talents, and a good agent does help! http://www.sandysanderellasmusings.blogspot.com
Michael Di Gesu says
Me either… No idols. But certainly had people I admired … Artists, authors, musicians, and the occasional fashion beauty! Lol.
Nick Wilford says
Wonder Woman was a legend! I would really want to be like Terry Pratchett. He's given so much to the world and still producing great work despite a debilitating condition. But I don't know about idolising – that implies worship, which I'm not down with.
M Pax says
I think all men still idolize Linda Carter. My dad and brothers really liked her. Husband's eyes light up whenever she's mentioned…
I was a big Billy Idol fan.
The Golden Eagle says
I don't think I've ever idolized someone. There are people I admire–but they aren't my idols.
L. Diane Wolfe says
The kitty one is cute. I don't think I have ever idolized someone. Anyone who wants to be idolized is an ego maniac though. Most who become idols wish they weren't.
Cynthia Chapman Willis says
I've never had any idols–I don't think. Wonder Woman was always cool, but her invisible plane always seemed weird to me. : )
Maria Dunn says
I think sometimes we don't even realize who or what are idols are when we get older. Heroes though, are sometimes a little clearer I think. But I agree with the men above, don't see many men outgrowing Wonder Woman. Hahaha. God bless, Maria from Delight Directed Living
Laura Eno says
It was a Yoda sentence. A lot I speak that way.
Wonder Woman is great but I don't think I ever looked up to anybody – which seems a bit sad. Now, eye candy? Jimmy Thomas.
Christine Rains says
Cheers for Wonder Woman!
Jinky says
Love Wonder Woman. ๐
Carol Kilgore says
"Some people have Billy as an idol."
LOL!
Bish Denham says
I thought Linda Carter as Wonder Woman was the best superhero ever. I kind of idolized my dad… does that count? And I really had a thing for Alexander the Great.
Mark Means says
I never grew out of it either. I still love Lynda Carter. A classic beauty….-swoon-.
What? Can't a guy swoon?? ๐
C. Lee McKenzie says
Swooning is allowed for both sexes, Mark. Glad you did your swooning here!
nouveauscarecrow says
My idol since I was 4 is the guy who drives the ice cream truck. I have simple wants. And Alex J. is right — no male of the species will ever outgrow Wonder Woman.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Of course! The white uniformed guy that lured you to the curb with music? The Pied Piper with treats. He could be any kid's idol.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
I would never want to be an idol.
And what man ever outgrew Wonderwoman?
C. Lee McKenzie says
My husband agrees!
nutschell says
Wonder Woman is cool, but my idols would have to be Kahlan from Legend of the Seeker and Nikita from Nikita:)

I don't know these either. Seems there's a lot I don't know. Good thing I have commenters like you!
Natalie Aguirre says
I tend to be more serious in who I idolize, like inspirational world figures. But funny about Wonder Woman.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Eleanor Roosevelt would be someone in that category that I could put on that pedestal.
Al Diaz says
Ah, yes, Wonder Woman. Amazing. What else can I say? Amazing.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I guess you'll join the ranks of the other fellows here in your admiration for WW. There's quite a number, so you'll have tons of company.
J.L. Campbell says
My last case of idolization was Idris Alba on Luther. ๐
C. Lee McKenzie says
Noe you see I don't even know about Idris. Have to investigate.
Mary Aalgaard says
I laughed when I saw Wonder Woman. She was the first female super hero I'd ever seen, so she was a wonder.

C. Lee McKenzie says
I admit she still impresses me.
Samantha May says
Ha Wonder Woman! I don't think I idolized her so much as I did the Powerpuff Girls ๐
C. Lee McKenzie says
It's a generational thing, I'm sure.
Elizabeth Seckman says
I'm still a Wonder Woman fan. I just bought me a WW purse. It sort of breaks my hubbie's heart…he's a Marvel kind of guy.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I love this. I had no idea there was a WW purse.
Theresa Milstein says
At least in the media.
Theresa Milstein says
I loved Wonder Woman. A dark-haired, strong woman. So few of them when I grew up.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Highly visible role models are a plus when you're growing up.
Rachel McClellan says
I'll admit it, I'd gladly give my right ovary to be a superhero.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Really? What power(s) would you choose?
DEZMOND says
ahahah…. gotta love the LOLCats pictures ๐
I prefer to be an idol than having an idol ๐
C. Lee McKenzie says
Now, see I knew you weren't shy.
