I’m still in shock. It rained all day Thursday and Friday still had some of that luscious, moist stuff. Doesn’t the sky know this is California and it never rains here? But I have proof. Click below and applaud for us water-deprived folk. You can’t see the forest. Even the nearest ridge has disappeared in the foggy misty downpour. Those trees are loving it.
I’ve announced that I won’t be blogging on Fridays anymore, so just wanted to say it again in case you didn’t stop by on Friday. I’ll stick with Mondays only for a while and a few special blog days that might pop up. I’ll still post on IWSG Wednesday. Also if you’re participating in the Deja Vu Hop, my post goes up on Monday, but I’ll be by to say hi to those posting on Friday.
A special thanks to J.L.Campbell for the prize. I won her splendid Who’s Your Hero contest.
Evernight Teen sent me my cover for Sudden Secrets, so I’m sharing it here because I like it. It has the feeling of my young character who’s managing a lot family issues in this story and a terrible secret. The rundown Victorian house is a key story element, so I was really glad to see it lurking in the background and being just a bit spooky.
Again, if you have some space on your blog and would like to give me a shout out, leave that in your comment and I’ll get in touch with you. It’s the holiday season, so I know how busy everyone is. If you can’t help me in December and can in the new year, I’d really appreciate it.

Love the cover and the rain. There is something so satisfying about the sound of rain on our rooftop. The gardens look plush and green. Congratulations on your new book, Lee. I'm buying a copy when I get back to Canada.

Hi Lee – I certainly hope the rain has been ongoing and kind – ie not torrential .. and helps with the dams etc …
Sudden Secrets … I'm sure these subject matter books really bring the challenges home and into real life … good for you for writing them and good luck with that blog tour ..
Cheers and happy Christmas week – Hilary

Its been raining a lot here in the foothills. One of my sons was happy because he thought 4 inches of rain would fill the Dam for the summer. Hated to burst his happy cloud, but what are mom's for, right ๐

And although we have had a relatively sunny winter, all that rain looks pretty normal to me . . . I live by the Puget Sound (about an hour south and west of Seattle) so we get a lot of rain.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I'm beginning to think I might like living where there's more water.

It never rains where I live, either. Having rain all day would be such a shock to me, too!
Also, love your cover for Sudden Secrets! There's such a great melancholy feel to it…

Isn't there a song that says it never rains in Southern California? You guys rarely get rain? How do plants and trees live?
Arlee Bird says
We've had tons of rain for sure, but they say it's still not enough to end the drought. Send more rain. Night time preferred.

I know how much y'all needed some of that moist stuff. Heck, even a bit of rain was real good for y'all.
Neat cover, Lee. However, the word, "SECRETS" is broken up. DId they run out of ink? ๐

Love your new cover! If you e-mail me a two sentence blurb and a few links and the cover I could announce it for you on 1/5. It's the next time I'm doing a regular blog post.

It's stayed cold ever since the rain too. It's like California is getting our entire allotment of winter all in the same week.
I like your cover. I would love to help you show it off a little ๐ E-mail me at featherzines at yahoo.com

I only lived in San Diego a couple of years, but I can recall how crazy it got when there was a thunderstorm, a real one with a few streaks of lightning. It didn't happen often, but it was eventful lol!
And I love that cover. Evernight Teen did nicely ๐
Mason Canyon says

Oooo, very nice cover. Lots of emotion. I'll be happy to share it any time you want though you might get a bit more exposure after the holidays.
I'm glad you got some rain, though I know some parts of California had some serious damage. We still need it where I am in Texas. So very dry… hoping some of that wet makes its way here, though the weatherpeople say it's going to go north, more to Dallas…
C. Lee McKenzie says
I'm thinking the same thing, Bish. Later might be better to show off the book.
Here's to both our states getting the water we need.

Beautiful cover. It looks just right for your description of the story. I can post about the book most anytime. Just let me know what to do.
So happy you have rain. I understand. We're in a five year drought and are allowed to use only so much water a month. We've had a couple of rains lately that have helped, but the lakes are so low we need lots more. Merry Christmas.
C. Lee McKenzie says
No water is a bad situation. Sorry you're in this drought, too.
I'll be in touch about the promo.
Michael Di Gesu says
Hi, Lee,
CONGRATS on the cool cover!!!! I'd love to help out after the holidays… Finally all settled into my new place. But I will have some free time after the new year…. Would LOVE to help.
It's been grey and foggy here in Chicago for days now, BUT the temps have been mild so I am NOT complaining. I would like to see some of the white stuff for Christmas though. Hopefully we'll get a white Christmas. I plan to go out of town to a charming town three hours west of here. It's another world and since it's so close to Iowa, I may see snow there. Let's hope. For me there is nothing more beautiful than a white Christmas….
C. Lee McKenzie says
Hope you'll see that white Christmas, Michael! After Christmas would be wonderful. I'll contact you.
Elise Fallson says
