I screwed up this month on my calendar, and posted another author in Melissa’s place last Monday. I’ve apologized, but I still feel like a goose. I hate messing up, and it happens when I’ve got my plate overloaded. I’m scaling back a bit more and hoping I can keep things straight.
Quote for the Week:
So there you have it. Melissa’s new book. My screw up and a quote that fit me perfectly. Ever had life pile up around your head? Every screw up?
DEZMOND says
oooh, such a lovely cover it is
Melissa says
Thanks, Dezmond. Carrie Butler gets the credit.
Empty Nest Insider says
Yes, and yes again! Congrats to Melissa, and you're being too hard on yourself, Lee.
Julie
Melissa says
Thank you, Julie.
S.K. Anthony says
Congratulations ot Melissa! I hadn't seen it because I've been pretty MIA from blogosphere, and if you hadn't messed up who knows when I would have seen it: next month? Next year? See, you got her one more reader this week. Sorry you've been overwhelmed lately though, hugs!
Melissa says
LOL
Thanks, SK. 🙂
Karen Lange says
Congrats to Melissa! If it makes you feel any better, Lee, I've done similar. Sometimes it's just hard to keep all the plates spinning. 🙂
Melissa says
Thanks, Karen.
You're right about those plates!
Shah Wharton says
Love the sound of your book, Melissa. I think we all need a good balance of deadlines, and flexibility. 🙂

Melissa says
Thank you, Shah.
Christine Rains says
Congrats to Melissa! And yup, I know about that pile up in life. Or that absence of a pile up which can be just as bad! Have a lovely weekend.
Melissa says
Thanks, Christine.
So true… when I'm busy, I'm productive and prone to mistakes. But when I have all the time in the world, I procrastinate, and sometimes still make mistakes because I leave stuff until the last minute.
Melissa Sugar says
Congratulations to Melissa on her new book. The story sounds wonderful – a lot of romance, mystery and suspense. I'm definitely heading over to purchase it now.
Sorry you are so overwhelmed. I get really frustrated and overwhelmed when I take on too much at one time, as well. Thanks for sharing Melissa's book with me. I'm excited about reading it. I feel like I will never catch up on all the books I want to read, but adding them to the pile I can see – in my messy room or on my Kindle is a start.
Melissa says
Thanks, Melissa!
I know what you mean. I've joked that I need to get laid up with an immobilizing injury so I can cozy up with my Kindle and make a dent in my TBR. LOL
Nicola says
Great quote and many congratulations Melissa.
I remember messing up my calendar by a whole month. I was turning up to appointments, sending out birthday greetings and basically making a complete fool of myself. It took me two weeks to realise my mistake. What a doof! But that's life 🙂
Have a lovely weekend. All the best!
Melissa says
Thank you, Nicola.
Cherie Reich says
Congrats, Melissa!
Calendars are easy to mess up, especially around the end/beginning of months.
Melissa says
Thanks, Cherie.
Catherine Stine says
Congrats to Melissa. As for me, I am teaching 3 3-hour classes in a week. That's a lot for me, so I need to boundary off writing time.
Melissa says
Thank you, Kelly and Catherine.
Kelly Hashway says
Congrats to Melissa. I know what you mean about having too much on your plate and it causing little screw ups. That's been happening to me a lot lately too.
Crystal Collier says
I switched emails to authors yesterday. Head-explosion warning. Here's to surviving the insanity that is life. And shining occasionally through it.
Melissa, hop sales are epic and life is rocktastic!
Melissa says
Thanks,
You have an excuse, new mom / homeschooling mom. 😛
SA Larsenッ says
Seriously? You're apologizing? I think we both know who that hair-pulling picture really describes. I dropped the ball so many times this summer. 🙁
Yvonne Ventresca says
Congrats, Melissa!
Lee — love the quote.
Melissa says
Thank you, Yvonne.
Jemi Fraser says
Sounds like a great story, Melissa! Good luck 🙂
Scheduling is always a nightmare!
Melissa says
Thanks, Jemi.
Amen to that!
Shooting Stars Mag says
Oh, I can relate to that quote too! These things happen – scheduling gets all mixed up sometimes, but we try! lol
Thanks for sharing – and congrats to Melissa!
Melissa says
Thank you, Mag.
C. Lee McKenzie says
It's just always so embarrassing, even when inevitable. 🙂
Pat Hatt says
What? You messed up? How can that be? Is there even such a thing? The cat is always right. Err umm, right?
C. Lee McKenzie says
Now if I had a cat, I probably wouldn't have messed up my schedule because all my cats kept in line. Guess I'll have to see about finding another one.
DMS says
We all make mistakes- especially when the universe is throwing a lot at us at once! It was great to learn more about Melissa's book today. 🙂
~Jess
Melissa says
I'm glad you enjoyed the post, Jess.
C. Lee McKenzie says
It was for me, too. The book sounds great.
Nick Wilford says
I'm sure Melissa doesn't mind! We're all human at the end of the day. When I have too much going on, something always gets forgotten.
Melissa says
That's what I told her. It ended up being posted during the sale, so it worked out well. 🙂
C. Lee McKenzie says
I was relieved to work things out, and Melissa was great.
Kelly Steel says
Congrats Melissa. Sounds awesome book.
Melissa says
Thank you, Kelly.
C. Lee McKenzie says
She deserves a round of applause! Two books and both sound great.
sage says
Melissa western theme is intriguing and, Lee, remember, we all make mistakes, and forgiveness should be freely offered.
Melissa says
It reads like a cross between a western and a regency.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Everyone here has been very forgiving. Aren't I lucky to have that kind of understanding? Thanks, Sage.
Birgit says
The book sounds great and congrats. I screw up constantly. I almost consider it part of what make me…me:) I love that quote and I think this is apt for most people. Right now, I am in the calm waters where not much is happening. In 2010, my hubby had lost his job, his Rheumatoid Arthritis took hold and made it impossible for him to work, He was finally diagnosed with adult classic severe ADHD, my mom was showing the signs, big time, of dementia, my doggie was nearing the end of her life and our family income went down as a result. I am glad for boring times:)
Melissa says
Thanks, Birgit.
Wow. I bet you ARE glad for boring. You need a hug!
C. Lee McKenzie says
I'll second that, Brigit! Why does it all come down on our heads at once?
Patsy says
It's all too easy to forget what we were supposed to do when, especially when there's a lot going on at once.
Melissa says
Case in point… I nearly scheduled Patsy's post for the wrong month. LOL
C. Lee McKenzie says
I love this!
Patricia Lynne says
Mess ups happen. I still love ya, Lee. =)
C. Lee McKenzie says
Very sweet, Ms. Patricia. Thanks.
Southpaw HR Sinclair says
Another gorgeous cover for Melissa too!
And me, I made a pretty big screw up myself recently.
C. Lee McKenzie says
It does look exciting, that cover. Here's to screwing up, acknowledging it and moving on!
Melissa says
Thank you, Holly. Carrie Butler gets the credit. 🙂
Yolanda Renee says
If I didn't screw something up at least three times a week, hell would surely freeze over. Sometimes I think I should just change my name to Screw Up. Today I awoke to find my fridge decided to quit working. Guess I didn't feed it enough! Hey, that's a good reason to defrost and scrub, right? Maybe I'll use it as a pantry, and forgo frozen food altogether!
Got your book Melissa, sorry haven't read it yet, but believe me that's what I'd rather be doing.
Happy Monday everyone, it's a holiday right?
Labor day, so I'm laboring!
Melissa says
LOL I know what you mean.
Thanks, Yolanda!
C. Lee McKenzie says
Seems right to labor today. Catch up. Clean that fridge and feed it well.
Just read your poem and found it excellent.
Melissa says
We all do it. I'm just happy you mentioned me, and it worked out that it ended up being posted during the sale. I believe things happen for a reason. 😉
C. Lee McKenzie says
Hope your sales are super today and in the future!
Natalie Aguirre says
We all mess up sometimes. Don't feel bad.
Melissa says
Yeah… I just realized I had Lee's name misspelled in the title of my blog post today. Oy.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Part of being human, I guess!
Bish Denham says
Nope, have NEVER had life pile up around my head, and *gasp* have NEVER screwed up! 😀
Melissa says
*gigglesnort*
C. Lee McKenzie says
Remember, Bish, I've known you for a long time.
Medeia Sharif says
Of course I took advantage of this deal. It looks like a great read.
Melissa says
Wow, thanks, Medeia!
C. Lee McKenzie says
Glad you jumped in. Me, too!
Ava Quinn says
Everybody screws up from time to time. I still hate when I do, though. lol!
Melissa has written another awesome book!
Melissa says
Yes! I'm the queen of it sometimes! LOL
Thanks, Ava. (You need to publish! I'm dyin' here! :P)
C. Lee McKenzie says
Maybe Alex should create another Support Group called WSU. We Screw Up. . . once in a while.
Beverly Stowe McClure says
Congratulations to Melissa on her book. It sounds like a wonderful story.
Great quote. I can relate. Lately, I've been trying to cut back because I'm trying to do too many things at once.
Have a great week.
Melissa says
Thank you, Beverly.
C. Lee McKenzie says
It's better to do one thing right than several things almost right. I think my grandmother told me that.
L. Diane Wolfe says
Melissa doesn't mind, I'm sure. I've read the book and it's really good.
Melissa says
Thanks, Diane! Perk of the job, I guess… LOL
C. Lee McKenzie says
Thanks for the recommendation! It's on the list.
Heather R. Holden says
Melissa's book sounds great! Sorry to hear you've been so overwhelmed lately, though. (That kind of thing is unavoidable sometimes!) Melissa's post may be up late, but at least you caught the mistake and got it up at all!
Melissa says
Thanks, Heather.
Lee's quote is right on the money. That is true for me, too.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Good thing I don't have little kids anymore. I'd probably forget them on the playground. 🙁
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
I'm sure Melissa is cool with it – just keeps the buzz going.
Have a great Labor Day!
Melissa says
Exactly. 🙂
Thanks for visiting, Alex.
C. Lee McKenzie says
One thing about authors, they understand.
