The Write Game’s Theme
Week 4) an ebook of The Princess of Las Pulgas
BOOKS
The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien (1937): This book made a difference to my reading habits. A teacher read this out loud at the end of primary school. I think I was twelve and I thoroughly fell in love with it. I loved it so much that I finished reading it on my own and went on to read Lord of the Rings. I haven’t seen the movie yet.
Harry Potter by J K Rowling (1997): I felt I should mention this, however I only read the first two books (gasp!). I lost interest after that. Perhaps because I’m a slow reader and I have to truly love a series to finish it since there are so many other books calling for my attention.
Other book favourites: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Hamlet (which I studied in high school as well as at University), The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

I love all those books! I'm amazed by how many great books are under H… but then I feel that way for every letter. 🙂

Hi Lee – well you've got everyone hooked and I'm glad I get the answers from your knowledgeable readers! Lynda is a new Aussie blogger for me to look out for ..
We were given The Hobbit when I was about 8 or 9 .. too early I think and I never really caught up .. cheers Hilary

Greetings amazing celebrity writer and all-round great gal n'stuff,
Yes, Tolkien was inspired when he lived in the town I now reside. He stayed in Leek for a few months and observing the locals helped give him inspiration for Middle-earth. Now you know why I live here.
Harry Pothead.
G'day and strewth, the answer to the mystery was first told by the ninja dude who has gotten back to commenting before you pawblish!
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar!
Sunday Visitor says
I love Harry Potter. Hobbit is on my reading list though.
Lexa Cain says
I don't know who this person is – but they have a great sense of humor! At least I assume the comment about getting bored after 2 HP books is a joke. Isn't it? ISN'T IT?? :O
Marcia says
I'm another who couldn't get into The Hobbit. HP, though — I'm not sure a more riveting story has been written, IMO.
Medeia Sharif says
Lynda Young?
I have yet to read or see The Hobbit. I tried to read it in high school and couldn't get into it. I do like HP though and read the first two books.
Lynda Dietz says
I would say Lynda Young, but only because I got here late in the day and everyone else said Lynda Young, and…well…we spell our names the same way, so maybe people really meant to say the mystery person was me…and…hmmm.
Yes. Me. The mystery person is me. I'm pretty sure of it, anyway.
Patricia Lynne says
I had no idea who your mystery guest was, but reading the comments, it's a name I recognize. =P

Stopping by for A to Z! What a lovely theme. There's so many nloggers out there and I just couldn't even venture a guess. I did last year's challenge and building off the same theme I'm in it again this year. Short and sweet.
Thanks for sharing. I love The Hobbit and Harry Potter!

The Hobbit is such a neat story. Can you believe I've never read Harry Potter. Really enjoying this series, Lee 🙂

I loved Harry Potter; I'm sorry it wasn't your cup of tea. But I adore the Hobbit and it got me to read Lord of the Rings too! I confess I didn't really like Hamlet much until a brilliant professor brought it to life for me in college. I enjoyed Huck Finn too – it's difficult to write humor, and Twain does a good job at it.
This is A. Catherine Noon, visiting from my blog at http://acatherinenoon.blogspot.com for the A-Z Challenge, #327 on the list. Happy blogging!
Lynda R Young says
Oh my gosh, I know who it is!! It's…. BOB!! I love his accent 😉
Carrie Butler says
Lynda isn't alone. I lost interest in HP, too.
Shh… don't tell anyone… *ducks!*
DEZMOND says
most of these bloggers are unknown to this little spy 🙂 but I do love me anything Australia related (not counting their politicians and barbecue) 🙂
C. Lee McKenzie says
You are so wise!
Mere Joyce says
I've still never read the Hobbit (!), but I do know all the rest of those H books!
C. Lee McKenzie says
I loved The Hobbit. It was such an adventure.
Beverly Stowe McClure says
It's weird but I don't remember any of my teachers reading to me or requiring us to read certain books. Maybe my memory is faulty, or maybe reading wasn't so important in the cave man days. I'm making up for my lack of reading now. I sort of lost interest in the Harry Potter books, too, though I did read all of them. The Hobbit is wonderful.
C. Lee McKenzie says
My third grade teacher always read to us after lunch. I still remember how wonderful that was.
Sherry Ellis says
Lynda Young is the only blogger I know from Australia. Harry Potter books are awesome!
C. Lee McKenzie says
I keep discovering new Aussie writers.
Leslie S. Rose says
Whoever this is, they are definitely my soulmate. All those books are special to me.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I knew it!
S.K. Anthony says
Well I didn't mean to cheat by my eye caught Lynda Young's name when I was scrolling…lol
Great books. (And I'm still gasping FYI)
C. Lee McKenzie says
Hard not to peek! You're forgiven. Actually, I expected peeking; that's why the glibness and added info points! Otherwise Alex will always win. 🙂
Theresa Milstein says
I was going to see Deniz, but Australia threw me off. I'll say Lynda too.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Good choice.
Southpaw says
I need to read more carefully. At first I thought you were calling the blogger a hobbit!
C. Lee McKenzie says
Now there's an idea. A furry paw on the keys.
Crystal Collier says
If it's Lynda, I didn't realize she was in Australia, but those are some great "H" books. I love them all too. The first person that came to my mind was Misha Gericke, but probably just because I've been friends with her longer.
C. Lee McKenzie says
Now see, I didn't realize Misha was in Australia. Learning all the time.
Julie Jordan Scott says
I predict this blogger has an accent! An Australian Accent! Which is only an accent to me because I am an American. Worse, I am a Californian American which means I think everyone who isn't from California has an accent. Actually, that isn't me, that is many other Californians. I also note the books are very much like what my daughters would read. I haven't read a single Harry Potter book… my daughter LOVES them! She also loves Tolkien.
Anyway – always enjoy my visits and my unsuccessful attempts at being funny? I just hope they aren't too annoying.
Happy Wednesday!

You are funny and so accurate. We Californios are terrible accent snobs. I include myself who, of course, has no accent at all.
Suzanne Sapsed says
No idea – although looks like Lynda Young is a strong contender 😉 I have read all the HP books, but enjoyed the first 2 the least, the writing seemed to change so much from the third onwards.
Also wanted to say – visited via your profile page – love, love, love your holding page with all the books!

Lovely to have you come via the olde website. Glad you liked it.
Michelle Wallace says
I also knew it's Lynda Young!
C. Lee McKenzie says
You and Alex! Good grief, you guys are guessing them all. What memories. What connections. I'm in awe.
Julie Flanders says
I didn't remember this one until I saw Alex's comment, can't believe I forgot.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I thought I'd stump everyone. Alex fooled me.
Teresa Powell Coltrin says
I don't know the answer, but I LIKE The Hobbit. Harry Potter isn't so shabby either. 🙂
C. Lee McKenzie says
A shared taste! Thanks Teresa.
Bish Denham says
Could this be Lynda R. Young? And, she is not alone. I haven't read all of the Harry Potter books either, though I would like to some day. — Is that a witty enough comment? 🙂
C. Lee McKenzie says
You're always witty, Bish!
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Lynda Young!! That's when I discovered she was my geek sister.
C. Lee McKenzie says
I've come to believe you're related to just about everyone, Alex.
