Such an interesting idea these representations of ourselves. I love to see the images people select to say, “This is me as I see myself.” So much is revealed and all is hidden unless one chooses to upload an actual image of herself/himself. (We have to do something about the her/him issue in our language. It’s terribly annoying when you have to decide between grammar and philosophy.)I digress.
The writers’ boards are filled with avatars of single eyes, ghostly images, trees, water, bones. Then others choose to show their faces and their family. Is this too revealing? Who logs on and sees the person behind the story or the message or the comment? Do I want my face pixeled across the internet? Have to think about this. In the meantime, I’m sticking with the image that I like to represent me. I’m sure it surprises people who think they know me.
